The V1.5.8 is now officially released!

So I've been on 1.5.8 since the beta, and have since manually upgraded to the release version of 1.5.8 (although I don't think there was a need). However, the app now constantly wants to upgrade my firmware. I've upgraded OTA as well as manually via SD card successfully SEVERAL times now...

    No map detail

I've never gotten it to work. It doesn't cache maps for me at all. I gave up and got another SIM card for my flying phone. LP

LOL! If this country keeps heading the way it is, I may be coming there looking for asylum! LP

The New Upcoming Autel Robotics EVO 2 Discussion Thread

Funny...I've been looking to move to CA, but at my age, it would be for retirement. Unfortunately, your country isn't very friendly to retirees that don't already have relatives there. The only way for me to get there from what I can tell is to get a job offer...or $1.6M bucks to migrate as...

Not only the Evo 2 - but every drone released before the requirements are finalized and closed. I'm in line for a Skydio 2 - but I'm now rethinking it. I wonder how many others are going to just stop buying and end up hurting the industry further... LP

The New Upcoming Autel Robotics EVO 2 Discussion Thread

I wanted to believe this too, but in the DroneU video and webinar you pointed me to, Paul is pretty insistent that the serial number and mfgr 'certification' requirements will still make our current drones non-compliant, even if they do have broadcast capability. That's my big worry now...

Ok - I get it...but I guess I'd still prefer it to be a registration number that someone has to consult with an authority - FAA, law enforcement, whatever - to get more detail. LP

The New Upcoming Autel Robotics EVO 2 Discussion Thread

I've already had my identity stolen...pretty severely. It's not about whether my data will be sold or compromised - because you're right. We're all at the mercy of the irresponsible behavior of the companies with whom we do business....or even not. Hell...even Equifax f*ked up....the...

The New Upcoming Autel Robotics EVO 2 Discussion Thread

At the risk of getting my butt chewed out again though, as a 107 pilot, I am sick and tired of people breaking rules and flaunting it. It doesn't seem to be as prevalent in this forum, but the facebook groups are full of people stating how they constantly ignore the rules, and that's why they...

That's where I'm parked too....until I hear someone tell me differently. As I amended my post above, I am worried a bit about the privacy issues and dollarized access to my personal info though... LP

The New Upcoming Autel Robotics EVO 2 Discussion Thread

Ok I just watched Paul's video, and it's no clearer to me. He does clearly state that our existing drones won't work because they don't follow the proposed serial number standard. However, he doesn't specifically say that they can't be made to work with a firmware or software update. In...

The New Upcoming Autel Robotics EVO 2 Discussion Thread

So now we have conflicting answers....so I'm back to my original question. WOULD our existing drones support standard remote id IF the manufacturers provided software/firmware updates? I guess we don't know for sure. Heading to watch Paul's video now... LP

Thanks Ansia - so it sounds like wifi or bluetooth. To me that means that it is well within the capabilities of the Evo and our DJI drones - although as I speculated, they may need some software/firmware updates. Unfortunately, we'll be at the mercy of Autel, DJI, etc... LP

The New Upcoming Autel Robotics EVO 2 Discussion Thread

I'm still wondering about this whole Remote ID thing. I've been watching all the uproar, and what I haven't seen is any real info on the method of Remote ID transmission from the drone itself. I get the whole standard vs limited thing, internet access requirement, etc. (and that would majorly...

    EVO Updates- scary thought!

Oh yes! I agree....didn't meant to imply that I didn't. The full reduced noise effect comes from a combination of the new ESCs and prop design. My point was that even without the improved ESCs, the new props made a difference in the tone and annoyance on the original Mavic Pro, that's all. LP
