Hey folks!

Jon from Mobile Alabama Bay area.

Recently bought a X-Star premium after getting sick of DJI's issues with my Phantom 4 Pro Plus.

It is now a backup. Ha Ha

Good to be here

Thanks for the welcome!

Have had the P4P+ for less than a year.

On numerous occasions the craft will just return to home on its own.
Loses signal and states WiFi issues when I am 5 mile form any house or tower.
Consistently states I need a firmware update when I actually do not.

(everything above happens/happened with all firmware updated etc.)

Then on Monday I am hovering about 175ft above the beach. Wind is dead calm.

I start to notice the drone moving around a bit. Not uncommon to have upper level winds at that altitude down here on the beach.

As I start to barely advance fwd (almost not noticeable) the drone all the sudden rolls over fwd and comes crashing to the ground.

Probably a wind gust. Which like I mentioned is NOT uncommon.

Anyway as I am headed home I stop off at a local coffee shop and start to research other drones. I then recall that ugly orange drone behind the counter at local Best Buy.

After 2 hours of research, reviews and testimonials from almost every social media platform (YouTube mainly) I called Autel support and left a message for someone to call me and convince me to purchase their product.

All the little things that Autel offer is what made my decision. This was before I bought one.

-Support
-Detachable gimbal
-Hard case
-900 instead of the 2.7 that operates on WiFi

So in the way home I stopped and bought the last X-Star Premium they had.

Have 4 jobs in next 7 days so I couldn't wait.

Once home everything from the packaging and robustness of the drone, propellers, case and gimbal were great.

Drone is a little heavier but I rather have that fro extra stability in the winds we have down here.
The pops are great and I appreciate the rigidity the have.

All the push button features on the controller are nice as well.

The batter and it's charging elements are nice.

I could go on but.......

It appears that Autel has focused more on the basic features and fundamentals needed for commercial photography and videography.

I shoot high end commercial and residential real estate and bare property.

I am not doing any fancy fast flying, car chasing type of work.

Just slow pans, flyovers etc along with stills.
This has everything I need at half the price.

I am typing this after having just flown it for the first time on a job and
I absolutely LOVE the orange color!

So easy to acquire a visual against the blue sky and white clouds! Well done.

I will stop now.

Welcome to the group...great story. :)

Did you do the firmware update? How do you find the yaw movements compared to the P4P+?

I think you're going to love the camera / gimbal too.

Hello,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the AutelXPilots forum.
I hope that you will be able to use the forum to further your safety knowledge and for the exchange of innovative ideas and as a resource for current developments in Autel quadcopters.
Enjoy!

Welcome, glad to hear you like the drone, two of my friends that I fly with are moving over to the “orange” after flying mine. Wish I could get finders fee . I flew in 25 mph winds the other day and I was surprised with the stability. Good luck with your business and safe flying..

Thank you for sharing your experience with the p4p....I'm glad I switched to the orange side as well even with a few well known warts. I agree, the product is all about simplicity and I kinda like that.
