With some friend’s help (one is a cop!), I’ve been planning a way to hike then fly over lava when I go back to Hawaii 7/1. Those plans are on permanent hold...

The restricted air space doesn't necessarily cover everything. It looks like there's two TFR zones, there might be an option for filming either off the coast (use a boat) or inland between the TFR zones.
I haven't overlaid the maps, but it may be worth scouting before you entirely give up.
