I will likely wait and see. Always a little skeptical. I am encouraged that Autel hasn’t completely abandoned V2 drones.

There's still people out there brave enough to update their Autel FW? I haven't updated mine since I got it in 2021 and it still flies like the day I got it as well. The bugs I have I am famliar with and none of them keep my EVO II from completing every project I throw at it.

Took my V2 RTK out and the app kept saying the RC was not connected to the drone.. So I tried the New Firmware and the new V2 Explorer app..

It installed fine (has to use the SD card method side the app didn't connect)..

But I still can't get the app to connect to the drone at all.. RC is connected with full telemetry but won't pass the information along to the app.

Anyone see this before?

That is very unfortunate, it is even more unfortunate that Autel does not keep all previous FW versions readily available along with an easy way to downgrade to it. Early in DJI's drone days their forums were littered with FW related failures and problems as well so I stopped updating my drone FW and SW a long time ago.

I update to whatever is available the day the drone arrives (so that I can return it if it breaks it), then I put my iPad mini into airplane mode and never update the FW or SW again.

For your particular issue, have you tried rebinding the controller and EVO?

smart controller or standard?

smart controller or standard?

This is the V2 RTK with the standard RC. To be clear the RC connects to the drone and displays all telemetry and all controls work.. it is just that the new V2 app on my android device thinks the RC is not connected to the aircraft so no live view or telemetry is presented. This could be an issue with my device but I have 2 Android devices that behave in the same way. The app says it is connected to the RC just fine but claims there is not connection between the R%C and the drone (which there is).

I did the binding process again just for good measure. I cannot say this incident is completely related to the new firmware, it could be coincedental.

---------------------
HOWEVER; I also have the Enterprise with the V2 Smart Controller. I have Firefox side-loaded so I was able to download the APK onto the controller and install the app. Then the new firmware notice popped up and it installed without issue. Just left it do its thing and it actually worked but you have to be patient and trust the process because sometimes it looks unresponsive.

I'm guessing you have tried with a KNOWN GOOD data cable? Otherwise, it sounds like something is wrong with the USB port on the controller.
It is puzzling as this is a new kit that has not been flown yet. I installed the 2.0 Beta last month without issue.

I tried a few cables and each time the RC says "APP CONNECTED" and the device automatically opens the Explorer app.

If the controller has full control of the craft and everything appears normal on the screen, but there is no output to a smart device over USB, you are looking at a problem with the delivery system, USB port, cable, smart device.

If you are positive you are using a working data cable, for example, it works with another drone, or you can connect your smart device to a PC and transfer files, then that leaves the smart device or the USB port on the controller.

Again, if the smart device works with another drone, that probably means it is fine, and that would leave you with the USB port on the controller. If you don't have another drone that you can test your smart device with, start by deleting Autel explorer, re-booting, and re-installing AE. Since you have tried 2 different devices, then it's probably not the device, but it's still worth deleting and reinstalling AE to check.

If none of that works, it would be looking like the USB port on the controller.

I have a couple of Evo 2 V2 Enterprise drones. I may upgrade one of them and do some testing next week. I will let you all know how it goes. I can always downgrade to the previous version, if needed.

Update: I was able to successfully install the new Explorer App and upgraded the firmware. The coordinated turn in Missions is a separate ON/OFF toggle. Looks good. I planned a couple of new test missions (polygon and corridor). I will fly the test missions on Monday morning. I will report back any findings and my thoughts.

Below are serval screen captures that show some of the new functionality including Coordinated Turn ON/OFF Toggle and Corridor Planning. Not sure what all of the options do exactly. Note there is an Elevation Optimization ON/OFF Toggle. Has anyone seen any documentation that explains all of these new features? I was also able to successfully import a line created in Google Earth (KML) as a Corridor Mission.

Ok, I finally figured it out, It was a setting on the Android device(s) that I had to enable to get "Data Transfer activated... it was set to off somehow. Never had to do that before for any flight app.
Either way it worked just fine now.

Not me... at least for now. Mine has worked very well as far as mission planning-execution, flying, batteries and Smart Controller. I'm working on my first project (about 14ac) in MS. Been fumbling around and understanding software. Maybe I'll have something for everyone to look at soon.

Installed and tested. The coordinated turns is fantastic, it makes the survey feel like it is one flight rather than a bunch of lines with start-stop-wait..

I did have the Explorer V2 app crash a few times on the Smart Controller during the 30 min mission but each time was able to get back into the ongoing mission quickly.

Didn't try out the new corridor mission planner though.

I successfully performed 3 test flights this morning including Rectangular-Coordinated Turn OFF, Rectangular-Coordinated Turn ON, and Corridor Mission. No real issues. I provided screen captures, screen recorded videos (Coordinated Turn ON-3 min and Corridor Mission-15 min), and flight logs in the Testing-032723 folder available by clicking the link to Dropbox folder below. I definitely need info about all of the various new options available. If someone has info, please share. One learning is to try and minimize the number of points defining the corridor. The more points, the slower the aquisition.

Also, Autel has added new options for keeping RTK NTRIP logged in between flights and battery changes. That seemed to work fine as well.

I did a quick process of all 3 surveys. They all processed normally. The corridor mission generally looks ok but the last 65/248 images (last flight line) were shot at 45 deg vs 90 deg (NADIR). Not sure why. Perhaps it is one of the options I did or didn't choose. Need to better understand corridor missions, especially what settings to use.

Make sure "elevation optimization" is turned off. Not sure if it works the same in corridor missions, but in polygon, it adds obliques at the end of the mission when it is on.

Did you happen to check to see if the Smart controller is able to receive power from a power brick while in use?
