If you plan on flying at night, make sure to include a strobe as well.

Not allowed to fly at night down under.. Hoping that CASA lift the restriction like some other countries have done.

Speaking for myself,I won't ever modify any part of my Evo.I got it for what it can do and its too valuable to experiment with.

I would agree with you on this very point, Vortexgenerator! It's something of a curious mind though to think of ways to 'enhance' its awesomeness!

Furthermore, I wouldn't take things apart either and modify my drone that way... Thinking more like zip-tie few led lights on the arms facing forward and backwards... or something like that... maybe on the belly also...

I would be intrigued to find some one that has built up their drone and to see their product.

Pretty sure Firehouse makes lights like you describe, they have some that are multimode, either strobe or spotlight.
